HMLA-369, known as the "Gunfighters," is a distinguished Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron activated on April 1, 1972, at MCAS Futenma, Japan. Specializing in close air support and armed reconnaissance, the squadron earned its fierce nickname by delivering precise and lethal firepower. Although formed after the Vietnam War, the "Gunfighters" inherited combat-proven tactics from earlier units. They played pivotal roles in key operations like Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, utilizing aircraft such as the AH-1 Cobra and UH-1 Huey, later transitioning to the advanced AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom.
